Program Overview

The OCIA is the Catholic Church’s ministry and program to welcome, inform, instruct, and prepare those seeking more knowledge and full membership in the Catholic Church.  Led by a diverse and talented volunteer team, the OCIA program at St John’s flexibly works with all ages of inquirers, catechumens (those not Baptized in a Catholic or Christian faith), and candidates (those already Baptized Catholics or Christians) through months or years of faith journey and preparation to enter and become life-long members of Christ’s Catholic Church.

The OCIA program helps evangelize, catechize, and build a welcoming community with and for new Catholics from no faith or other faith backgrounds, Catholics who have fallen away from the Church and wish to come home, and Catholics who feel that they need more catechesis in the Catholic faith.
