Corpus Christi---taking Jesus to the four corners of the world!

On Sunday, June 22nd, St. John's celebration of Corpus Christi was a joyful event. Despite extreme wind and high temperatures, parishioners joined the Eucharistic procession around the church grounds raising their voices in praise and worship.

Corpus Christi-Save the Date!

Sunday June 22nd come celebrate Corpus Christi, The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.

Immediately following the 11:00 am Mass we will have a procession with Christ around the church grounds, bringing Jesus to all four corners of the world. First Communion children are invited to wear their First Communion attire and lead the procession. Final Benediction will be prayed in the church.

All are invited to stay for lunch in the parish hall.

Memorial Mass for Pope Francis

Bishop Joensen will celebrate a memorial Mass for Pope Francis on Saturday Morning, April 26th at 10:00 AM at the Basilica of St. John.

St. John's Faith Formation program and Parish is supporting Mary's Meals this Lent. The Vision of Mary's Meals is that every child recieves one daily meal in their place of education and that all those who have more than they need, share with those who lacke eventhe most basic things. $25.20 will feed a child every school day for an entire year. Adopt a Grandparent

The Works of Mercy Team has an opportunity for you to make a difference in the lives of Adel Acre Residents. We are looking for families or individuals to Adopt a Grandparent! You will choose a resident to befriend and engage in ongoing activities through sending cards, letters and even stopping in for a visit. You can read more details on this new ministry HERE .

Journey Through Grief

St. John's Caring Hearts Bereavement Team hosts "Journey Through Grief". Journey Through Grief is a six-session group offered through UnityPoint Hospice that explores the nature of grief and the mulitfacited ways it impacts individuals. Participants will learn why grief is so difficult, identify their coping style, connect/engage with other and discover new sources of hope. Journey Through Grief is open to anyone who has experienced a loss, whether it be spouse/partner, parent, child, sibling, or any other type of significant loss due to death.

Sessions at St. John's Catholic Church in Adel begin at 6:00 pm with a small meal. Meeting dates are bi-weekly: Sept. 12 & 26, Oct. 10 & 24 and Nov. 7 & 21.

Coats for Kids and Sunday Breakfast

The Fifth Sunday Collection June 29/30 will go to the Coats for Kids program supported by our Knights of Columbus. The Knights are also sponsoring a Casserole Breakfast on Sunday following the 8:30 Mass. All proceeds will support the cause.

St. John's Cry Room is not just for babies anymore...

It is a calming space for parishioners of all ages. Items have been added to support individuals with a variety of sensory needs. The goal is to help individuals meet sensory needs in a calm environment so all can better attend to Father's message and the miracle that is our Catholic Mass!

Sensory-seeking materials can help get the wiggles out and include quiet fidgets, rocking chairs, sensory floor and wall tiles, wiggle seat, chair bands, silicone rosaries, and tracing tiles.

Sensory-avoiding items help block out distractions, such as noise-canceling headphones, CD player with Christian music, and light filters over the flourescent lights.

Organizational tools have been added to help children understand what is next in the Mass, as well as visual timers to see how much time is left in Mass.

Emergency supplies of diapers, wipes, and pacifiers are also still available.

Please help us keep this area clean and organized with the materials provided.

Funeral Mass

Tithing Envelopes

Hello! I wanted to reach out and let you know that there have been some issues with our church tithing envelopes. I have heard that other churches in our Diocese are having the same issue. Sounds like some of you have received them and some have not and I apologize. I am working with the company and hoping the issue gets resolved quickly!
